    Who owns it

    You are the owner on record.

    The plainest answer available, including the parts most people never tell you.

    • The domain is registered to you. Your name and your business go on the registration as the registrant — not Site Sourcery's. That holds whether you run it yourself or have it looked after.
    • You can leave. Ask, and you get the transfer authorization code and the domain unlocked so you can move it to any registrar you like. There is no fee to go and no foot-dragging.
    • Renewals are yearly, and you hear about them first. A domain you forget to renew is a domain you can lose, so it never arrives as a surprise.
    • Site Sourcery acts as your agent, not as the registrar. A domain bought on your behalf is placed through a Site Sourcery account at Spaceship. Spaceship or its provider is the ICANN-accredited registrar. Site Sourcery is not a registrar and claims no special access to the registry.
    • Your contact details go to the registrar. Registering a domain means giving a registrant name, address, email, and phone to the registrar, who is required to hold them. You are told exactly what gets sent, and you agree to it before it goes.
    • A rented address works differently. your-name.sitesourcery.me is a name on the Site Sourcery domain, so it stays Site Sourcery's — that is the trade for having nothing to manage. Move to a name of your own whenever you like and the site comes with you.
